WireHand — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 9, 2026
Last Updated: October 9, 2026
1. Who We Are
WireHand ("WireHand," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that helps electrical trade professionals build a professional profile, generate a resume, and use field calculation tools.
WireHand is a service operated by Jairo Hernandez.
Contact: support@wirehand.app
WireHand is designed for and offered only to users in the United States. Our servers are in the United States. If you use WireHand from outside the United States, your information is processed in the United States.
2. Age Restriction
WireHand is intended solely for individuals 18 years of age or older.
During account creation we ask for your date of birth solely to confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not store your date of birth. Once your age is confirmed, we keep only the date on which you confirmed you were 18 or older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), or from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it and terminate the account. If you believe a person under 18 has created an account, contact support@wirehand.app.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide
| Category | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Name | Profile and resume |
| Phone number | Mobile phone number | Account creation and sign-in verification codes |
| Email address | Optional at sign-up. Required only to download a resume, because the resume shows it | Resume and support |
| Age confirmation | The date you confirmed you are 18 or older. Your date of birth is checked and discarded | Age eligibility |
| Location (self-reported) | City and state | Profile and resume |
| Professional profile | Trade role (for example, apprentice or journeyman), years of experience, license type and state (optional), headline and short bio (optional), skills, certifications you add (name and optional issue and expiration dates), and work projects you add (company, project name, your role, start and end dates) | Core product function: your profile and resume |
| Saved tool data | Work you choose to save in the tools, for example PullSheet panels and circuits | So you can see it again in your account |
| Pay Calculator | If you save a pay calculation: hours, pay rate, gross pay, estimated taxes and deductions, and estimated net pay | Your pay calculation history |
| Pay stub scan results | If you scan a pay stub: hourly pay rate, pay period, employer state, tax withholding percentages (federal, state, Social Security, Medicare), health deduction amount, a retirement contribution percentage if present, and the scan date | Fill in the Pay Calculator for you |
| Pay stub images | Photographs of pay stubs you choose to scan | Read the pay fields listed above, at your request. Not stored by WireHand (see §5) |
Your resume PDF is created on your device. We do not upload or store the PDF file.
The scan can misread a pay stub, so check the numbers. You can always enter your pay information by hand instead. In this version you cannot edit individual scanned values; you can scan again or switch to manual entry at any time.
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
| Category | Detail |
|---|---|
| Account identifier | Your account has a unique user ID created by our sign-in system. |
| Sign-in records | Each time you sign in, and each time the app renews your session in the background, our sign-in system records the IP address, information about the app and device you signed in from, and the time of that request, as the current record for your session on that device. We use these records to keep your account secure and to detect abuse. See §9 for how long they are kept. |
| Approximate location | Only if you allow it, one time during setup, to suggest your city and state (see §3.4). |
| Crash diagnostics | See §7. |
| Anonymous app usage events | A small, fixed set of events, for example that a tool was opened (identified by our internal tool ID), that sign-up was completed, or the category of a failed scan. See §7. |
| SMS consent record | The consent text shown to you, the date, and the IP address of the request, as a record of the consent given when the account was created (see §6). |
| AI consent record | The date and the text you agreed to before your first pay stub scan (see §5.3). |
| Pay stub scan usage log | See §5.4. |
| Service logs | Like most online services, our hosting provider records technical request data such as IP address, device and app type, and time of request, to operate and secure the service. |
3.3 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not request or store your Social Security number, financial account numbers, payment card numbers, precise GPS location, background location, your contacts, microphone access, photos other than the pay stub images you choose to scan, biometric identifiers, or your date of birth.
A pay stub can show your name, employer, address, Social Security number, or bank details. We ask our AI provider to read only the pay fields listed in §3.1, and we save only those fields. However, the full image is visible to our AI provider while it is processed (see §5). If you prefer, cover or crop personal numbers before you take the photo.
3.4 Device Permissions
| Permission | When the app asks | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Approximate location (while using the app; never precise) | Once, during setup, after an explanation screen | Suggest your city and state |
| Camera | When you tap to photograph a pay stub | Take the pay stub photo |
| Photos | When you choose a pay stub from your library | Pick one image |
On Android the app does not request precise location at all, and on iPhone the prompt has "Precise" turned off by default. Your device converts the approximate coordinates into a city and state using the operating system's built-in address lookup (provided by Apple on iPhone and by Google on Android). We save only the city and state. Your coordinates are not sent to or stored by WireHand. We never use location in the background. If you do not allow location, you can pick your state and type your city yourself. Location is never required.
We do not request precise location, background location, microphone, or contacts access. You can turn these permissions off at any time in your device settings; the app keeps working with manual entry.
3.5 Preview Mode (No Account)
You can use Ohm's Law and TapeMath without creating an account. In that mode we do not collect any personal information: no account or user ID is created, you are not asked for your name, phone number, or date of birth, and nothing you type into those tools is sent to us. Your last Ohm's Law calculation is saved only on your device.
Like any visitor, the app downloads its public settings (for example, a maintenance notice) from our hosting provider, which records the service log data described in §3.2. The app also sends the anonymous crash reports and usage events described in §7, without any identifier linked to you.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account
- To confirm you meet the minimum age requirement
- To build your professional profile and generate your resume on your device
- To operate the calculation tools and save the work you choose to save
- To read pay fields from a pay stub image when you request it
- To send you the verification codes required to sign in
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and understand in aggregate how the app is used
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not show ads and do not use advertising tools. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use data brokers and do not buy data about you.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Pay results, including numbers read from a pay stub scan, are estimates for your own information.
5. Artificial Intelligence Processing
One WireHand feature uses artificial intelligence provided by Anthropic, PBC, operating as our service provider.
5.1 What Uses AI, and What Does Not
| Feature | Uses AI? |
|---|---|
| Pay stub scanning (within Pay Calculator) | Yes |
| All nine calculation tools | No — deterministic formulas |
| Profile, resume generation | No |
There is no AI chat or assistant feature in this version of WireHand.
5.2 What Happens to the Image
When you choose to scan a pay stub:
- The image is sent to Anthropic only to read the pay fields listed in §3.1 and return them to you.
- WireHand does not store the image. It is not written to our storage and does not appear in our logs. We save only the pay fields listed in §3.1.
- Anthropic processes the image to produce the result and does not use it to train models. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic deletes it within 30 days, except where a longer period is required to enforce its usage policies or by law.
- Manual entry is always available. You can use every feature of the Pay Calculator without ever using the scan.
5.3 Your Consent
The first time you try to scan a pay stub, the app asks for your explicit permission and tells you that your pay stub image is sent to Anthropic to read pay data and is not stored by WireHand after processing. Nothing is sent to Anthropic until you agree. We record when you agreed and the text you agreed to.
You can stop sending content to Anthropic at any time by not using the pay stub scanner; you can always enter your pay information by hand. You can also email support@wirehand.app and we will clear your AI permission, so the app asks again before any future scan. Withdrawing does not affect content already processed.
5.4 Monthly Limit and Usage Log
Each account can scan up to two pay stubs per calendar month. Our server enforces the limit, the limit is the same for every user, and we may change it without an app update. A scan that fails is not counted. When you reach the limit, the app tells you when it resets, and you can always enter your pay information by hand.
Each time you scan a pay stub we record your user ID, the feature (pay stub scan), the amount of AI processing used, and the time. We use this to enforce the monthly limit and to track our costs. The record contains no part of the image and none of the numbers read from it. If a scan fails, its record is removed. When your account is deleted, the link to you is removed; only the feature, the amount used, and the time remain.
5.5 AI Output Is Not Professional Advice
Information read by AI may be incomplete or incorrect. Check every value against your actual pay stub before relying on it. See the Terms of Service for the full disclaimer covering calculation tools.
6. SMS Messages
We send you text messages for one purpose only: the one-time codes required to sign in to your account. We do not send promotional or marketing text messages.
- Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
- Reply STOP to stop messages. After you reply STOP, we will not text you again unless a new sign-in code is requested in the app for your number. Reply HELP for help.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
To ask us to stop sending sign-in codes to your number, email support@wirehand.app. We verify your request before acting on it. If you have an account, stopping these messages means you will no longer be able to sign in to it, because the code sent by text message is the only way in.
When you accept the message consent during account creation, we record the consent text shown to you, the date, and the IP address of the request, as a record of the consent given when the account was created. This record is stored with your account and is deleted when you delete your account.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent information will never be shared or sold to third parties or lead generators for marketing or promotional purposes.
The consent language shown in the app is: "I agree to receive SMS verification codes from WireHand at the phone number provided. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help. We only send sign-in codes, never marketing messages."
7. Crash Diagnostics and Anonymous Usage Events
When the app fails, we collect technical information about the error to diagnose it: device model, operating system version, app version, and the technical error trace. The app also sends a small number of anonymous usage events by name, for example that a tool was opened (identified by our internal tool ID) or that sign-up was completed. If a pay stub scan fails, only the category of the error is sent (for example, "limit reached" or "AI unavailable").
This is processed by Functional Software, Inc. d/b/a Sentry, in the United States, which retains it for 30 days.
These reports and events are configured to exclude personal information. Before a report leaves your device, the app removes your account details and filters out any field that could contain personal information. Sentry is also set up not to store IP addresses. These reports and events are not linked to your account and do not include your name, phone number, email address, location, or content you entered in the app.
We use this data to keep the app working, fix bugs, and understand in aggregate how the app is used. We do not use it for advertising or to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
8. How We Share Information
We share information only with the service providers below, only as needed to run WireHand.
| Recipient | What it receives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (cloud hosting and database) | Your account and profile data, and service logs | Store and serve your data |
| Twilio (SMS delivery) | Your phone number and the verification code | Send sign-in codes |
| Anthropic, PBC | Pay stub images you choose to scan, and nothing else | Read the pay fields from the pay stub |
| Functional Software, Inc. d/b/a Sentry | Crash reports and anonymous usage events, not linked to your account | Crash diagnostics |
| Apple and Google (operating system services) | Your device coordinates, if you allow location | Convert coordinates into city and state on your device |
| Apple App Store and Google Play | Download records they collect under their own policies | Distribute the app |
Our providers are required by contract or by their published terms to protect personal information with safeguards at least as protective as those in this policy, and to process it only to provide services to us.
Other disclosures:
- Legal compliance: when required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process.
- Safety: to protect the rights, property, or safety of WireHand, our users, or the public.
- Business transfer: to a buyer or successor if WireHand is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will notify you, and this policy will continue to apply to your information.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and profile data | For as long as your account is active |
| Sign-in records | One record per device where you are signed in, updated each time the session is renewed. Removed when you sign out of that device, or when we end the session for security reasons. Any remaining records are deleted when your account is permanently deleted at the end of the 7-day grace period. If you stop using the app without signing out, the record remains until then. |
| After you request deletion | 7-day grace period, then permanent deletion |
| Account deletion record | User ID, phone number, the optional reason you gave, request date and completion date, kept 90 days to evidence the deletion and prevent fraud; then anonymized (the phone number is removed and any reason is reduced to a general category) |
| Pay stub images | Never stored by WireHand |
| Pay stub scan usage log | Link to you removed when your account is deleted; feature, amount used, and time remain |
| SMS consent record | Deleted with your account |
| AI consent record | Deleted with your account |
| Crash diagnostics and anonymous usage events | 30 days |
| Backups | Deleted data can remain in backups for up to 7 days until overwritten |
The 7-day grace period lets you recover your account if you change your mind or requested deletion in error. When you request deletion you see the date your account will be permanently deleted, and tapping Done signs you out. During those 7 days your data is not destroyed, you can sign back in, and you can tap Cancel deletion on the notice shown in the app.
After 7 days, a daily job permanently deletes your sign-in account and all data linked to it, including your profile, skills, certifications, projects, pay stub results, pay calculations, and saved tool data. This normally happens within 24 hours after the grace period ends and cannot be undone.
We may also keep information if the law requires it, for example to respond to a valid legal request.
To request deletion, see the Delete Account page or email support@wirehand.app.
10. Your Privacy Rights
10.1 All Users
You can edit your name, email, city and state, experience, license, headline, bio, skills, certifications, and projects at any time in the Profile tab. Your phone number and trade role cannot be changed in the app; contact us if they need to change. You can delete your account at any time (see §9), and withdraw your AI permission as described in §5.3.
The app does not track you across third-party sites or apps, so it does not respond differently to Do Not Track or similar signals.
10.2 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
We follow the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) standard even where the law may not yet apply to us. If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
- Access a copy of your personal information
- Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Limit use of sensitive personal information
- Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights
Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, phone number, email, user ID, IP address); personal characteristics (date of birth, received only to check your age and not kept); professional or employment information (trade role, experience, license, skills, certifications, projects); financial information (pay rate, withholding percentages, pay calculations); approximate location (city and state); photos (pay stub images, processed and not stored by WireHand); internet or other electronic network activity (crash reports and anonymous usage events, not linked to your account); and other content you create (saved tool data).
Sensitive personal information: pay details and pay stub images may contain sensitive information. We use it only to provide the features you request, not to infer characteristics about you.
Sources: you, your device, and our service providers as described above.
Sale and sharing: we do not sell or share personal information and have not done so in the last 12 months.
To exercise these rights, contact support@wirehand.app. We verify your identity through the phone number associated with your account before fulfilling a request. You may designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf.
10.3 Residents of Other States
Residents of other states with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and get a copy of their data, and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, and certain profiling. We do not sell data, target ads, or profile users for decisions with legal or similar effects. To make a request, email support@wirehand.app. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, encryption at rest, access controls, and row-level security on our database. Our AI provider key is kept on our servers, never in the app. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent again. We will update this policy before adding features that collect new types of data. The "Last Updated" date shows the latest version.
